Overview
The Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management and Leadership provides students with a solid foundation in operational and strategic Human Resource Management professional practice. A unique feature of the program is its emphasis on leadership, and the role that Human Resources practitioners play in leading and influencing organizational performance. Applied learning experiences rooted in Human Resources principles are an integral component of this program. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities available to them to participate in an optional applied work experience during their program of study.
Career/Academic Advancement Opportunities
Graduates of BBA Human Resource Management and Leadership Degree are employed in private and public organizations as HR specialists or generalists. They assume a variety of roles including that of HR advisors, managers, directors and supervisors. BBA Human Resource Management and Leadership graduates are qualified to write the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) credentialing examination. They are also eligible to apply to the Master’s Program in Business Administration or the Master’s in Leadership and Training Program at Royal Roads University.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of the program students will be able to:
- Integrate business and leadership concepts, theories, and principles in a range of management environments and roles.
- Use analytical and critical thinking skills to make decisions in an organization.
- Develop, implement and evaluate an organization’s human resource management principles and strategies.
- Advise and guide the development and implementation of Human Resources legislation, practices, standards and policies.
- Operationalize policies, procedures and initiatives that support the development of human resources.
- Provide leadership in the accomplishment of organizational goals and the development, implementation and evaluation of strategy.
- Apply concepts and principles of effective interpersonal competency to interactions with diverse individuals, groups, organizations and communities.
- Conduct oneself with integrity by demonstrating ethical and professional behaviour as a human resources leader.

Optional Program Credential Designation
Note:
A student who does not successfully complete three (3) Cooperative Work Experience courses will not qualify for a Cooperative Education Designation; however, the student will qualify for an Internship Designation if they have successfully completed a minimum of one (1) Cooperative Work Experience Courses.
Program Participation Requirements
- Many first year Business courses require Math as a prerequisite (e.g. “C” in Pre-calculus 11, Foundations of Math 11, MATH 073 , MATH 077 , MATH 137, or “C+” in MATH 072 , MATH 075 , or MATH 135). Students may enter this program without Math but please note, students must complete one of the Math courses as listed above or successfully complete Camosun’s Math assessment in or before their first semester of study
Program Completion Requirements
- Residency Requirement: A minimum of 20 courses must be taken at Camosun including at least six (6) of the following courses: BUS 310 , BUS 312 , BUS 313 , BUS 315 , BUS 318 , BUS 322 , BUS 325 , BUS 421 , BUS 480 , BUS 485 and one (1) of BUS 450 or BUS 460.
- To qualify for a BBA - Human Resource Management & Leadership credential, a student must complete all required program courses and electives to total at least 120 credits and achieve an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (‘C+’).
