Overview

This program fosters programming skills and artistic vision to take on creative and technical challenges for those who are artistically and technologically inclined. Students acquire the tools needed to take an idea or a problem and develop it from concept to production. This multidisciplinary program gives students the opportunity to write professional documentation, design and implement stories or games, and apply knowledge to create their own interactive experiences. 

Opportunities for Academic Advancement

Graduates with the two-year diploma can become a web, software, game or mobile app developer.  A graduate can also find employment in quality assurance, visual effects (compositor), product management or product design/user experience application.

Upon successful completion of this program, the learner will be able to 

  1. Develop inter-professional and inter-cultural practices to communicate with non-subject matter stakeholders
  2. Program, deploy, secure, and maintain software applications to meet requirements
  3. Apply a variety of technologies involved in securing data
  4. Apply 3D animation techniques in the creation of an object
  5. Explain the fundamental theory behind artificial intelligence and computational models
  6. Design responsive websites and applications considering specific technologies and platforms optimized for all screen sizes including smart phones, tablets, and desktops
  7. Apply human computer interactions (HCI), user experience (UX) design and strategies, navigation, user testing, guidelines for mobile devices and the web, and usability heuristics/ergonomics when designing an application
  8. Design, analyze, implement, and maintain software for augmented and virtual reality applications
  9. Apply knowledge of basic project management skills to information technology activities 
  10. Demonstrate the foundational concepts of entrepreneurship
  11. Work individually or as part of a team to establish effective skills enabling intercultural communication and collaboration with colleagues, team members, employers, and technical and non-technical stakeholders
  12. Demonstrate professional and ethical responsibility in the information technology field and workplace
