Overview
The Bookkeeping Fundamentals program prepares students with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide bookkeeping support for today’s office. The certificate program is for students who require flexibility and convenience to complete their educational goals or to enhance their existing credentials.
Career/Academic Advancement Opportunities
Employment possibilities include support-level bookkeeping positions in a variety of business settings. Graduates of this program acquire a Camosun College Certificate in Bookkeeping Fundamentals. Students may be able to use courses taken in this program toward other credentials with the School of Business or in other programs at the College.

Upon successful completion of this program, the learner will be able to
- Use current relevant software in an applied business context
- Apply basic accounting concepts for a sole proprietorship, including the recording of transactions and preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of personal income tax and tax planning
- Recognize the legal, social, and ethical implications of fundamental accounting and taxation decisions for a variety of business situations
