Overview

The Post Degree Diploma in Business Administration - Accounting is designed to provide students with the background and knowledge to enter business or government in an accounting capacity.

It is targeted towards students taking courses to satisfy CPA (Chartered Professional Accountants) prerequisite course requirements.  Co-operative Work Experience is available for this program.

The program consists of 15 courses and can be completed in approximately one year if taken on a full time basis and started in the Winter term.

Learning Outcomes


At the completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Prepare and interpret financial information for a variety of users.
  • Analyze business problems and recommend appropriate financial solutions.
  • Evaluate risk within the parameters of accounting, taxation, and assurance and develop recommendations for managed risk.  
  • Analyze existing practices relative to current standards.
  • Research technical issues to effectively respond to business requirements.
  • Apply current financial, assurance, and taxation standards to business situations.
  • Communicate financial information effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Assess the ethical issues in business decision-making within the parameters of accounting, taxation, and assurance.

Additional Information


Students must complete all CPA prerequisite courses (see www.cpacanada.com for list of courses) before they can register in CPA Professional Education Program administered by CPA Canada.  Note that CPA Canada requires a minimum grade of 60% in all prerequisite courses.

Program Completion Requirements


  • An overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 (C+).
  • Students must have completed an accredited bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
