Overview

The Business Administration Diploma - Marketing Program is a dynamic applied two-year program that is designed to provide learners with a solid business education along with additional knowledge, practical skills and abilities to succeed in a range of marketing roles.

Career/Academic Advancement Opportunities

Graduates are prepared to work in entrepreneurial enterprises, business, not for profits, government and community tourism environments in areas such as marketing and sales management, public relations, advertising and customer service. Graduates wishing to further their education are able to continue with their studies at Camosun College in the Bachelor of Business Administration - Marketing Program.  There is also 2-year block transfer credit to Degree Programs including Royal Roads University (B Comm), and the University of Lethbridge. Transfer credit to other post-secondary institutions on a course by course basis is available.

At the completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Apply concepts, theories, principles and strategies from business to a range of marketing roles.
  • Prepare a marketing plan including marketing objectives, mix, strategies, budgetary considerations and evaluation criteria.
  • Develop an integrated marketing communication plan for marketing products, concepts, goods or services based on identified audiences.
  • Develop pricing strategies taking into account perceived value, competitive pressures, corporate objectives and cost analysis.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and use a variety of strategies to address marketing problems and opportunities.
  • Use a variety of thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems.
  • Apply and align marketing activities with principles of business sustainability.
  • Develop strategies to enhance working relationships with others.
  • Apply various and changing technologies to perform operations, prepare reports, enhance production of materials, access resources, provide information, do research and communicate with others.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in spoken, written and visual forms that fulfill purposes and meet audience needs.
  • Function in a professional manner respecting legal, ethical and social parameters of the marketing industry.

Cooperative Education


Note:

A student who does not successfully complete the two (2) Cooperative Work Experience courses will not qualify for the Cooperative Education Designation; however the student will qualify for the Internship Designation if they have successfully completed a minimum of one (1) Cooperative Work Experience Course.

Program Participation Requirements


  • Many first year Business courses require Math as a prerequisite (e.g. “C” in Pre-calculus 11, Foundations of Math 11, MATH 073  or MATH 077  or “C+” in MATH 072  or MATH 075 ).  Students may enter this program without Math but please note, students must complete one of the Math courses as listed above or successfully complete Camosun’s Math assessment in or before their first semester of study.
