GEOG 227 - Advanced GIS Applications

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) encompass a powerful set of tools that can be used to find solutions to a vast range of problems in Geography and other disciplines. Building on their previous GIS knowledge, students will further hone and grow these skills as they critically analyze how to best apply them to real-world situations. Students will apply concepts of spatial data models and spatial analysis to propose comprehensive solutions to case studies, which they will document in written reports. Through applied projects, students will access spatial data from a variety of sources, including Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and also be asked to collect their own spatial data.
