BIOL 240 - Wildlife and Habitat Credits: 3 Total Hours: 90 Through a variety of instructional methods, students will explore the systematics, biology and habitat of selected vertebrates and invertebrates, with emphasis on local taxa of high cultural, ecological and economic importance. Students will learn the biology of selected species and examine ecological relationships, integrating components of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). Standard methods to observe and sample fauna in the field will be practiced in conjunction with wildlife habitat assessment, along with the use of taxonomic keys to identify organisms. Students will gain an understanding of policy, legislation, biodiversity issues and wildlife management principles and apply their understanding in relevant contexts to real-world situations.
