Overview

Medical Office Administrators play critical roles in most areas of our provincial healthcare system. Students in the Medical Office Administration Program will explore the foundational knowledge, skills and abilities that are required to begin supporting the administrative needs of a modern medical or healthcare office. In addition to developing communication, problem solving and clinical skills, graduates are prepared to engage in basic triage of patients, charting, billing, and scheduling, while working independently in a variety of health care settings. Students will combine their studies with applied learning opportunities that allow students to gain valuable industry‐specific experience.

Students may be able to use courses taken in this program in other credentials in the School of Business or the College.

Upon successful completion of this program, the learner will be able to

  6. Manage and organize data and information using appropriate and secure file management systems
  7. Perform basic administrative and clinical tasks as required to support the efficient operation of a medical or healthcare clinic
  8. Effectively manage basic billing processes and medical records specific to a medical or healthcare clinic
