Overview
The Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance is a nationally recognized certificate for those seeking a challenging and rewarding career in accounting and finance at an entry or intermediate level, with opportunity for further study at the degree and professional designation level. You will learn to apply the technical accounting and software skills that employers value in this competitive job market.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of the program students will be able to:
- Prepare financial information to support management decision-making.
- Prepare financial statements and related disclosures for organizations with low to medium levels of complexity and a low level of uncertainty.
- Help prepare more complex financial statements.
- Support the development and maintenance of the organization’s management control and risk management systems.
- Calculate and report on financial and non-financial performance measures.
- Monitor and recommend improvements to accounting procedures, accounting information systems and internal controls.
- Monitor cash flow and cash flow requirements to assist with effective business management.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts for review by senior management.
- Prepare information for external auditors.
- Support the auditor in planning and executing the audit with documentation and research.
- Help prepare tax filings, provisions, reports and disclosures and comply with remittance requirements.

Program Participation Requirements
Many first year Business courses require Math as a prerequisite (e.g. “C” in Pre-calculus 11, Foundations of Math 11, MATH 073 , MATH 077 , MATH 137, or “C+” in MATH 072 , MATH 075 , or MATH 135). Students may enter this program without Math but please note, students must complete one of the Math courses as listed above or successfully complete Camosun’s Math assessment in or before their first semester of study.
