Students will develop the English-language skills necessary for success in the Health Care Assistant Certificate program, focusing on academic, healthcare, and Canadian workplace communication. Students will improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through real-world activities, such as participating in client dialogues, conducting group discussions and presentations, listening to shift reports, reading medical charts, and using HCA reference texts. At the end of the course, students will have gained the language skills necessary to succeed in the HCA-ESL program, during clinical placements, and within community and institutional healthcare settings.
