Overview

The Post Degree Diploma in Sport Management provides students with a combination of business and advanced sport management knowledge and competencies.  Designed for students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree, students will study foundational business courses alongside advanced sport management courses in the areas of event management, sport marketing and project management, sport analytics, sport organizational behaviour, and professional sport delivery.

Students will develop knowledge and capacities that will enable them to enter careers in sport related business, leadership, event, and program and project development positions in not-for-profit, corporate, and community sports environments at the local, provincial, national, and professional level.  

Graduates of this program will have studied analytical and strategic thinking concepts preparing them to practice professionally, responsibly, and ethically in the sport management industry.

Applied learning opportunities including an optional workplace internship are offered within the program.

Learning Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this course a student will be able to: 

  • Apply knowledge of sport management theory and concepts in a range of industry settings
  • Analyze and evaluate industry settings and practices for the application of sport management and business concepts and principles
  • Apply and integrate business, management, and sport knowledge to effectively manage resources
  • Create and monitor relevant programs and events that respond to sport and physical activity needs
  • Demonstrate and model social responsibility and cultural awareness including Indigenous ways of knowing, being, doing, and relating as a sport management professional
  • Analyze leadership theory and principles in a range of sport management settings
