Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technology - Marine & Industrial program has been designed to prepare graduates for employment in the Marine Sector and in the general Industrial Electrical field. This program shares the first year of the Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology - Renewable Energy program.

Within the first year, students will learn the fundamental theories and skills necessary to proceed to more advanced industry-specific topics. In the second year of the program, topics such as Electric Machines, Power Distribution, Control Theory, and others related to the electrical technology field will be presented. In addition, topics related to the marine sector will be introduced.

Students participate in and integrate their learning through a range of learning experiences including in class and project based learning. In the final semester of the program, students consolidate their learning in applied research and project management courses.

Career Opportunities

  • Computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Fundamental analog and digital circuit design
  • Design and implementation of programmable logic controller (PLC) control systems
  • Analysis, monitoring, control and design of complex electrical systems
  • Communications systems design and installation
  • Marine electrical propulsion systems
